Linux/Network System Engineer - Red Hat and Cisco 

Our client out of the Atlanta area is looking for a Linux System Engineer. In this role you will provide the scalability and availability of company systems. This role is created from growth to add another team member to maintain, enhance and improve on key areas of security, network and Linux environments.  You will be focused on Linux systems about 70-80% of the time with 20-30% focused on Cisco Network troubleshooting. They are looking for someone who has high load experience working in a highly transactional environment.

Role Expectations/Responsibilities:

  • Advanced CentOS/RHEL engineering on the LAMP stack
  • Maintain and monitor centralized logging and monitoring software
  • Manage security and operational policies, administration and procedures for services across multiple Datacenters
  • Utilize CDNs, caching proxies, and managing multi-site distribution networks
  • Optimization, tuning, and multi-site replication of extremely large data stores (think petabytes)
  • Network expansion leveraging Cisco hardware
  • Network hardware administration (VPNs, ACLs, switches, load balancers, routers, firewalls, MPLS)
  • Assess utilization trends, design and implement recommendations to scale the architecture

Required Skills:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 or more years' experience in a large-scale networked Linux environment
  • Network troubleshooting skills (tcpdump/wireshark analysis)
  • Advanced knowledge of RHEL / CentOS and VMWare
  • Strong knowledge of network technologies: IP Tables, NFS, DNS, FTP, Rsync
  • Security-focused System Administration mindset
  • Excellent communication and project planning skills; must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to install, configure and maintain Apache and MySQL
  • Building deployment and automated tools using Bash and Puppet
  • High degree of proficiency in Linux Systems and Network Administration
  • Experience with network security and performance tuning (kernel and TCP parameters)
  • Security audit experience
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills

Nice to have:

  • Maintenance using PCI DSS controls
  • Experience with Splunk and highly customized Cacti for network monitoring
  • Familiarity with IDS and penetration testing
  • Penetration testing, Fail2ban, and InfoSec tools (we love breaking things to make them stronger)
  • CCNT and Networking experience with Cisco hardware, IOS and ASDM (updating ACLs, VPN, monitor traffic)
  • MySQL HA (master/master and master/slave replication, replication lags, optimization and tuning)
  • SIP/VOIP phone system
